Braai & Slaai Fundraiser a Great Success

On 15 May 2026, Mossel Bay APD hosted its much-anticipated Braai & Slaai Fundraiser, and thanks to the incredible support of our community, it was a wonderful success.

The fundraiser was organised as a staff initiative with the aim of raising funds while bringing people together around good food and a good cause. We are grateful to everyone who purchased meals, shared our advertisements, and encouraged friends and family to support the event. The response from the community exceeded our expectations and once again demonstrated the caring spirit that exists within Mossel Bay.

Parents from our Day Care Centre played an important role in supporting the fundraiser, and many members of the wider community also got involved. Every meal purchased contributed towards the work of Mossel Bay APD and the services we provide to persons with disabilities and their families.

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal consisting of a chicken leg quarter, wors, roosterbrood, noodle salad, and chakalaka salad. The food was prepared with care and attention, and the positive feedback received afterwards confirmed that the effort was well worth it. The combination of traditional braai favourites and freshly prepared salads made for a meal that was both enjoyable and satisfying.

A special word of appreciation goes to the volunteers who generously gave their time to assist with preparations, serving, and of course, standing behind the braai fires. Their willingness to help made a significant contribution to the smooth running of the day. Events such as these are only possible because of people who are prepared to lend a hand and support a worthy cause.

One of the highlights of the fundraiser was the sense of teamwork and fellowship among everyone involved. Staff members, volunteers, parents, and supporters worked side by side in preparation for the event. The laughter, conversations, and shared commitment created an atmosphere that reflected the values of Mossel Bay APD—community, inclusion, and mutual support.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Rochelle Kiewiet, our Administrator, for taking the lead and coordinating this initiative. Rochelle’s dedication, organisation, and enthusiasm played a key role in making the fundraiser such a success. Thank you, Rochelle, for heading up this project and ensuring that every detail came together so effectively.
